City traffic Meiningen
The city traffic Meiningen consists of a widely branched bus -Liniennetz that the Meininger bus operation is operated (MBB). With 15 city and regional lines, almost all city and districts of the district town of Meiningen are developed.
history
The first buses operated by the Deutsche Reichspost started operating in the city as early as the 1920s. In 1952 VEB Kraftverkehr Meiningen was founded with 17 buses, which operated urban transport from the end of the 1950s. The first city line with a length of around seven kilometers ran between Welkershausen in the north of the city and Stillhof in the extreme south. From 1960 onwards, a line network with regular bus connections was set up, which was continuously expanded and changed several times in line with urban development. Up to 12 lines were created. Mostly Hungarian Ikarus buses of types 66, 260 and 280 ( articulated bus ) were used. Until the central bus station (ZOB) was built in the 1990s, the bus station was on Lindenallee by the Englischer Garten . In 1991, today's Meininger Busbetriebs GmbH emerged from VEB Kraftverkehr Meiningen .
Line network
The relatively compact and densely built-up city center of Meiningen requires nine pure city bus routes and six combined city bus / regional bus routes. Most of the districts are approached by regional buses. The entire city area has around 100 bus stops. The main transfer points are the bus station in Lindenalle directly next to Meiningen train station and the “Sachsenstrasse” junction in the city center. Another important stop in the city center is in Klostergasse. There are connections to regional bus lines at the bus station and connections to the regional trains of the Süd-Thüringen-Bahn and the Lower Franconia shuttle of the Erfurt Railway at the directly adjacent train station . The bus station has ten stops and the Sachsenstraße junction consists of five stops that are equipped with an electronic passenger information system.
The city network covers almost all parts of the city as well as the districts of Drei 30acker and Walldorf . With regional buses, the district of Helba is connected with the lines 400, 415 and 420, the district of Welkershausen with the line 412, the districts of Herpf and Stepfershausen with the line 409, the district of Wallbach with the line 416 and the district of Henneberg with the line 408. The busiest lines are lines 10 and 11, which connect the city center with the heavily populated districts of North, East and Jerusalem , and line 17 to Dreianzigacker with the clinic and industrial area. These lines, each around 13 kilometers long, are driven every 30 minutes. There is a bus connection between Kiliansberg / Jerusalem and the city center every 15 minutes thanks to the opposite ring traffic on lines 10 and 11. The situation is similar with the connection between the city center and the Rohrer Stirn / swimming pool leisure center, which is served by two lines. Daily found on all lines total about 350 trips partial clock traffic instead.
The city lines are provided with two-digit numbers and the overland lines with three-digit numbers.
