Stajićevo ( Serbian - Cyrillic Стајићево , Hungarian Óécska ) is a place in the Serbian Banat and belongs to the administrative area of ​​the city of Zrenjanin .

history

Stajićevo was founded around 1922 by settlers from the surrounding villages. The place name is based on the surname of an Orthodox priest named Stajić from nearby Taraš , who is considered the founder of the place. By 1925 around 200 houses were built in which around a thousand people lived.

Demographics

According to a census from 2002, there are 1599 adults in the village of Stajićevo, with an average age of 38.8 years (37.6 for male and 40 for female residents). An average of 3.19 people live in 627 households. Statistics from 2002 show a Serb majority and a slight decrease in population .
