Stars and Cars is one year after the end of the racing season in November from the automotive group Daimler aligned Motorsport -Showveranstaltung in Stuttgart - Bad Cannstatt , which was attended by up to 72,000 spectators. The event marks the end of the motorsport season for Mercedes-Benz .

Components of the event

The most important element of the event are several car parades on a circuit around the Mercedes-Benz Museum , the Mercedes-Jellinek - and the Mercedesstraße. There are Formula 1 -vans, Formula 3 -vans, DTM -Cars, safety cars and historic race cars presented.

In addition, the drivers and organizers of the Mercedes-Benz Motorsport department present themselves to the public in interviews.

The company will also use the event to honor drivers who leave the team and to share information regarding the next motorsport season. For example, the former Formula 1 world champion Mika Häkkinen announced his start in the 2005 DTM at the Stars and Cars event in 2004.

history

Stars and Cars has existed since 1993. The event took place until 2004 at the old Mercedes-Benz Museum within the Daimler factory in Untertürkheim . Stars and Cars around the Mercedes-Benz world has been held in NeckarPark in the Bad Cannstatt district since 2006 .

  • In 2005 and 2009, the Group's motorsport department refrained from aligning it for reasons of economy.
  • In 2010 the event was canceled due to "scheduling reasons".
  • In 2011 the event was canceled despite the announced date. Instead, the Stuttgart great moments took place on the occasion of the 125th birthday of Mercedes-Benz in downtown Stuttgart.
  • In 2014, Stars & Cars took place on November 29th from 10 a.m. around the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. Current as well as historical vehicles and racing cars were shown in 20 corsos. About 50,000 people attended the event. In addition to the current Formula 1 drivers Nico Rosberg , Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas and the DTM drivers of the 2014 season, the guests also included former Mercedes drivers such as Stirling Moss , Hans Herrmann , Jochen Mass , David Coulthard and Roland Asch .
  • In 2015, this event took place for the first time in the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart . The deadline was December 12th. The event also included a race modeled on the Race of Champions between racing drivers associated with Mercedes. DTM driver Daniel Juncadella won this one.
  • In 2016 the event was canceled in advance; only one internal event among 3,000 employees at the Sindelfingen plant took place on December 3, 2016.
