The Starschedel family is an old Meissen aristocratic family . It comes from the town of Starsiedel near the city of Lützen in the south of today's state of Saxony-Anhalt .

history

The family first appears in a document on March 26, 1311 with Petrus de Starcedel . The von Starschedel family was especially wealthy in Saxony . For a time, members of the family owned the north Bohemian rule Schluckenau . Representatives of the family were primarily in the service of the Electors of Saxony . Between 1445 and 1556 they were owned by the Mutzschen office in the Leipzig district of the Electorate of Saxony . From 1629 to 1801 the family owned the manor Merzdorf near Riesa.

The crest is of red and black by a silver inclined beams or doubly inclined of red, silver and black divided . On the crowned helmet with, depending on the source, red-silver, black-silver, right black-silver and left red-silver, mixed red-silver-black or red-silver covers a flight , on both sides of red and black through a silver sloping bar, right diagonally left and left diagonally right, or both divided diagonally left.
