Starschi praporschtschik ( Russian старший прапорщик , de. Translation Oberfähnrich ) designates in the armed forces of Russia , but also a number of other countries, the second rank of the rank group of Praporschtschiks ( ensigns ). The career is equivalent to the Chorąży career in Poland and a number of other countries, but not with the rank of ensign in the Bundeswehr .
The position of the career group according to the NATO rank codes WO or OR in the English-speaking armed forces would most likely be comparable with this rank group.
