Blaues Blut is the ninth solo album by the Berlin rapper Fler . It was released on April 19, 2013 through his independent label Masculin .

Emergence

Fler's eighth solo album Behind Blue Eyes was released in November 2012, and work on Blaues Blut began after the release. Fler received a CD with instrumentals from the producer Hijackers . Since Fler was impressed by all the beats on the CD, he immediately started writing his next album. According to his own statement, the single Barack Osama was recorded as the first song on the album. Then Fler recorded the rest of the album, which, as he himself said in an interview with Mixery Raw Deluxe, was fun. The next album was ready after only four months. According to Fler, he would have published it a whole year later if it had taken him longer.

Production and samples

The entire album was produced by the Hijackers producer team . All songs were recorded in Berlin. The mastering of the songs on the album was done in Los Angeles by Brian Gardner, who previously worked as a sound engineer for 50 Cent and Dr. Dre was working. Four songs on the album contain samples of songs by other artists. The first beat of the album's intro contains a sample of the track Pain by the hip-hop duo Capone-N-Noreaga . Chrome includes a sample of Sittin 'on Chrome by Masta Ace . The song Biggest Boss also contains elements from another title. A sample can also be heard in the song German Dream , probably by The Doors .

content

Fler deals with several topics on the album, mostly battle tracks (e.g. Ruthless , Real Men , The League of Criminals ) and songs with humorous influences (e.g. Courage to be ugly ), as well as calm and profound songs (e.g. German Dream ) included on the sound carrier. What is striking is the low proportion of choruses sung, which von Fler was often much higher on his previous releases. Most of the songs on this album can be assigned to battle rap. Only a few songs deal with other topics. The song Pheromone is mainly about status symbols and success. The songs Produkt der Umgebung and City Boy deal with Fler's origins and their influence on himself. In the song German Dream, Fler questions the existence of the “German dream” and explains his attitude towards the European envy society and towards the American dream . Musically, the album is strongly associated with the South American rap style, also known as Dirty South . With Chrome and Barack Osama there are also some trap songs on the album. In an interview with the magazine 16bars.de, Fler commented on the South American style of the album and said: “ West Coast rap has influenced Germany for years. You can tell from the beats. East Coast rap has also influenced Germany for years. But the south from America has never reached Germany because people have never had a connection to it. […] I am extremely influenced by my visit to Miami from the south of America. And the South of America just has more of these Dirty South things, these trap stories and I let myself be influenced by it when it comes to production because I also believe that it needs an extremely good production. [...] The People haven't quite understood it yet and they have this ignorance, especially when you're rapping on a south beat, they certainly haven't understood yet. […] We want to. that it underlines the personality. It's also about the flavor and I think it's a bit, German rap, if you look at the last releases, the flavor is simply missing completely. “All the verses of the songs are slowly rapped by Fler and his guest musicians. The guest musicians Jihad and Silla tease the rappers Kollegah and Farid Bang in their verses , who are dissed by Fler in the song Mut zur uglichkeit . Some well-known personalities are mentioned in the texts. These include: Lena Meyer-Landrut , Samy Deluxe , Massiv , Sonny Black , Mr. T , Hulk Hogan and The Notorious BIG

Guest Posts

Blaues Blut contains a number of guest musical contributions from other rappers. The rappers Animus and Silla are involved in two songs. The piece Grizzly is a collaboration with Animus, who is also supported in the piece Machine , in which Fler is also supported by G-Hot (written in the track list Jihad ). The rapper Jihad is represented a total of six times on the album. The pieces Product of the Environment , Ruthless and City Boy are collaborations of the rappers Fler and Jihad, while Fler is supported by Silla and Jihad on the songs Echte Men and The League of Criminals . In an info video, Fler said that the guest posts on the album would be the only artist that would fit the album. A feature with the rapper's arrest warrant had previously been speculated. Fler told 16bars.de that the warrant was " still the only one " with whom he " wants to make a song in Germany ". They would have “ had contact with each other over three corners ”, but he said that Fler's “ deadline was very tight ”.

On January 5, 2013, the music video for Barack Osama was shot, on February 8, the song was released as the first single. There was also a masculine remix on the single Barack Osama , in which the rappers Silla and G-Hot participated. Barack Osama reached 68th place in the German charts and left the charts again the following week. Fler said to Barack Osama in an interview with 16bars.de: “ Barack Osama was [...] the first song I recorded. [...] And then we shot a video because Katapult wanted to shoot a video with me. “The second single was Pheromone , which was released physically and digitally on April 12th. The music video for the single was shot by the rapper Nazar and was released in early April as a censored version on YouTube and uncensored on PornHub. The single could not establish itself in the German charts, but was often in the music charts of the distributor Amazon . On April 29, 2013, the music video for the song Echte Men, shot in Berlin , was published on YouTube. In addition to Fler, the rappers G-Hot and Silla as well as members of the rocker gang Hells Angels can be seen in the video . In May 2013, the music video for the song Chrome , which was shot by Chris Macari , was released. The video also shows the rappers Jihad and Animus . In addition, Fler was seen in videos of other rappers as a guest artist in 2012. He had a guest appearance in the song Star Wars by Laas Unltd and rapped the chorus in the video for Rap Casablanca by Silla. In addition, a product from the environment contest took place on the Internet, where fans could send photos, which can then be seen in a video. Courage to ugliness appeared as the first freetrack . With Biggest Boss and Meine Farbe, more songs were published in advance on the Internet and on April 4, 2013, a 15-minute snippet of the album, which was mixed by DJ Maxxx, was published online. On February 10, 2013, an interview about the album Blaues Blut appeared on the Mixery Raw Deluxe Internet portal. In addition, days before an audio sample of the song Chrome was published on the Mixery Raw Deluxe website. There were also interviews with many other Internet portals. On April 4, 2013, Fler was a guest on the Swiss show Joiz TV , where he also presented songs from his album. Fler announced that with the red audio anabolic steroids shirt, which you can purchase in his shop, you can come to all Blaues Blut concerts free of charge . After the album was released, there was an interview with Backspin magazine in which Fler also announced that he was already working on other musical projects. An interview with Tik Online magazine was published in May 2013. In this, Fler also commented on the video for the song Pheromone: “ It wasn't a big thing for me, not a new situation to sit in bed with two naked girls, so I knew that before. In the end I didn't find it really that provocative either, everything was still within the framework, we also attached great importance to the fact that the girls got away with it, that they are not just legs wide in the video " . He also explained the content of the songs on the album: “ Money, money, money, women, money, women! The finer things in life. Rap in Germany is a bit rusty for my taste, a bit conservative. I'm trying to focus that on that essentially. And those are just the beautiful things in life ”.

Texts

Diss songs
Kollegah and Farid Bang, who are dissed on the song Courage to ugliness .

Blue blood contains the song Courage to ugliness . This is a diss track against rappers Kollegah and Farid Bang. In contrast to Kollegah, the name Farid Bang is not explicitly mentioned in the song. The song was made available on YouTube even before the album was released.

“The jackknife is in my pocket. I'm making a detour to Düsseldorf. Kollegah, you have glass bones. You get the pumpkin in, what kind of carrots? One bell was enough from Dú Maroc and you passed out - over-shock. You stay on the ball like a center forward. You're looking for comparisons, look for a job in the fortune cookie company. Don't imagine your hype - Gangnam Style. I'll get you off the movie - Rambo 3. Felix Blume, the Antoine is even made up. Did you finally wake up bitch You gross motor skills can't even put your shoes on. With the few hair you have, I'll pull you over the Ku'damm. Who is Felix Blume's son? A goddamn son of a bitch. "

- Fler in the courage to be ugly

The album also features the song Ruthless , on which the rapper Jihad has a guest contribution. In this song, too, allusions are made to the rappers Kollegah and Farid Bang from Jihad. The rappers are not mentioned directly. The song's hook was edited using auto-tune .

“I distinguish between good and bad. Two drunk sons of bitches. Get away with yours, what kind of babble is that supposed to be, Doubletime? Pay you bitch! How do you look on your personal details? Tell me who thinks you're buying the eyeliner for your pearl. A box, dicka, I'll gladly accept the lawsuit. I spend the 10 bills for pain and suffering on advertising. When my boss is in front of you, it's Parkinson's. After the song you can come for a blow job. And Felix, now you will be measured. Your mother is a multiplication - I took her once. Masculine at the top of the food chain. Topic number one in every ladies room. Loui, Gucci - look how we manage the house. Nobody can stop us. Masculine!"

- Jihad in Ruthless
Battle rap tracks

There is no storytelling rap on blue blood at all. Instead there are a lot of battle tracks on the album. So the style of the song Barack Osama can also be described as battle rap. In the chorus of the song released as a single, the words Barack Osama are rapped repeatedly . In addition, the words President and Terrorist appear in the chorus, which can be understood as an allusion to the US President Barack Obama and the presumably dead terrorist Osama bin Laden .

“If you attack me I have to laugh LOL Your little darling is my dog in the hotel. Don't pretend I'm not brand new anymore. I'll come over and buy your ass, that's money. Don't come running again you little slave, your whole life is a booger in my nose. You are cute, you want to bite your milk teeth. You are dicks, you want to smoke pot and then go chill. I'll put salt in your wound, you little boy. Don't bother in your village, you are my dogs. Why are you crying ? Yesterday you were so tall with a hat. I am a king, I have blue and no red blood. "

- Fler in Barack Osama

In addition, the song Biggest Boss is a battle track. The chorus of the song contains a sample by an English-speaking artist. Fler's text is only performed in the stanzas.

"Who is the boss? - Flizzy Fler is the boss here. - Flizzy. Times change, today I don't wear Carlo anymore. They say I'm swimming in money now. - Scrooge. Tanned. I'm shooting from the Aston. Your gang is gay and wears bulletproof vests. When you see me you think Hulk is coming, boy. You are not street, Fler is the asphalt, boy. The world is small from up here - executive floor. There is no such thing as a happy ending for you - sex massage. You little junk, I'll let you hang from a tree. You only have your name since I worried your wife. Just be quiet when adults are talking. I am a doer boy. I lead an adult life. Barreta in front of the face. Boy you're getting very small I'll get the tail out and you pull in the tail. "

- Fler in Biggest Boss
Deep songs

The album also includes the song German Dream . The song is the only profound song on the album.

“You are stuck here, in this gray world. There is no togetherness. Tell me when the wall will fall. There is no such thing as a German dream. It has dreamed up. 'Cause I'm not the star that you want out there Pack my Louis suitcase and take the next flight. I'll be fine, you know me I'm fine."

The album received a positive rating at Laut.de. The editor Stefan Johannesberg titled the publication as " A new chamber for German rap ". In addition, Fler is praised for his South American rap style: “ The next surprise only wanders into the upper room after listening to it several times: Fler does not stand out negatively even when bragging and boosting and gets his slow-flow raps smoothly like Schreiner. Anyone who has ever tried to cast sex gangster lyrics in German without doubletime rhymes in hooks and verses without any doubts, will guess where the real achievement of the "Blue Blood" lies ". The publication was rated four out of five by the editor, which is Fler's best rating at Laut.de.

The online magazine Rap.de also rated the album positively. The editor Luigi Zuckermann described the publication as " wonderfully ignorant ". Blue blood is described as an improvement over its predecessor, Behind Blue Eyes : " Where Fler sounded a bit bumpy with his first step in the new direction," Behind Blue Eyes ", he has evidently found his successor" Blue Blood " grooved in. The mixture of his flow, which is much slower than in the old days, and the pathetic synth beats suddenly sounds much more organic and less artificial ”. In addition, Fler is praised for being well inspired by the “ role models of this style ”: “ The role models of this style are called Rick Ross, French Montana or Booba. But the point is: it works. ““ Thematically, there isn't much that is new from Masculin. It's about banknotes, mainly colored lilac, about your own status as CEO and about the quick establishment of sexual contacts with always willing ladies ”. At the end of the review, the editor describes the album as “ just right ” for the listener who “ likes to be ignorant and unreflective about his rap ”. The album was rated seven out of ten by the editor.

The editor Erich Unrau from the magazine hiphop.de praises the producers Hijackers for creating Fler a " sound carpet that is completely based on American southern rap ". The hijackers should be " kept in mind for the future ". The editor also commented on Fler's performance on the album: “ Rap is always about bringing voice, rhymes and beat together. This has made Fler consistently quite successful and will certainly satisfy some of the critics of the previous album - especially because he has now relied much more on his street rap roots ”. According to him, Fler created a “ structured album with Blaues Blut , which has a special position in the German rap scene ”. The publication received 7 out of 10 possible points in the review.

Reviews of other artists

The rapper Denyo rated Blaues Blut for the online magazine Jetzt.de of the Süddeutsche Zeitung . In terms of content, he criticizes the album as “ standard blockbuster rap with the same themes over and over again ”. Denyo positively rates the fact that Fler brings " a few cool punchlines and [...] one or the other casual saying ", which many rappers lack. In terms of style, Fler leans heavily on the American rapper Rick Ross . Denyo describes this "hashtag rap style" and the use of some " politically incorrect lines " as funny. However, since Fler does not break this “ at any point with an intelligent statement ” or brings in a “ winking component ”, “it is ultimately a tragedy ”. Fler's ignorant attitude is " entertaining ". If this should be meant seriously, however, Denyo feels this is " really bad ".

The rapper Shindy commented on the slow flow of Fler to the magazine Rap.de. He thinks it's " cool " [...] because Fler " brings something new back in ". Personally, however, he would like Fler to “ always rap like CCN 1 ”. However, he could " not influence " [...] and Fler could " do what he wants ". Describing it as " no way bad, " Shindy said Fler did really well.

meaning

Fler describes the album as the first attempt to integrate so-called southern rap into the German hip-hop scene.
