history

In 1906, the innkeeper Josef Starzinger began to fill drinks, such as lemonades and soda water, in addition to his own production, which was customary at the time . His son August Starzinger (* 1912) continues the company. In the course of the reconstruction, the production method was switched to automation. In addition to the licensed bottlings of the Afri-Cola , Frucade and Almdudler brands, the company also increasingly produces its own brands.

In 1977 August Starzinger jun. (* 1943) the company. During this time, the company grew to its present size through the purchase of neighboring properties. In 1985 the company bought the private brewery Bräu am Berg in Frankenmarkt and continues to run it in its original form as a small traditional company. The Hungarian mineral water company in Bük was bought in 1990 and an export center to other eastern countries was set up in Budapest. In 1991, in the course of export efforts, the Upper Austrian brewery in Aspach was acquired in order to increase the export of beer. The Austrian cult brand Schartner Bombe - the “lemonade” of the economic boom par excellence - was taken over in 1995 with the aim of going back to the brand's old heyday. In the course of quality improvement measures, the production of the Schartner bomb was relocated to Frankenmarkt in 2000 and expanded in 2003. The Juvina mineral water brand also relied on local quality, and in 2005 the Hungarian plant relocated to Deutschkreutz in nearby Burgenland .

In 1998, the company's own advertising agency was founded, which takes care of product development, design and marketing of own and third-party brands. In 2010, the previous managing director, August Starzinger, handed over 75% of the company and thus the management of the beverage group to his daughter Ludmilla Starzinger. The Hungarian company Bomba! Energy Drink Kft. , Based in Budapest, was taken over 100% in the same year by son Markus Starzinger, who had headed the Budapest headquarters.

In 2015, new storage space with 12,000 square meters was invested in Frankenmarkt. In Deutschkreutz, too, investments are made in laboratories and certifications.

Today Starzinger is the third largest producer of non-alcoholic beverages in Austria and also active in the international market.
