The village of Kyjice (Kaitz in German) was also removed and the 13.9 m high dam on the eastern bank of the lake was built in its place. The dam crest is 1.76 km long and 9 m wide; The local road from Vrskmaň to Vysoká Pec runs above it .
The reservoir with a water surface of 152.1 ha primarily serves to balance the water inflow of the Bílina before it passes through the Ervěnický koridor. There is also a small power plant with a Kaplan turbine of 94 kW output and sport fishing is also carried out. The water has a maximum capacity of 8.4 million m³ of water.
