The Stawell River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Queensland . It does not have water all year round, but only during the rainy season .
geography
River course
The river has its source a few kilometers south of Blackbraes National Park in the Great Dividing Range . It initially flows to the southwest and curves to the south. South of Maiden Springs it turns its course westward through grasslands to the confluence of its largest tributary, the Woolgar River . From there it flows south, where it is about 17 km northwest of Richmond . There it flows into the Flinders River .
