Ste-Anne (Coulommiers)
The Sainte-Anne chapel in Coulommiers , a French commune in the Seine-et-Marne department of the Île-de-France region , was built at the end of the 13th century. The building has been a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1994 .
history
The chapel was built at the end of the 13th century as part of a commander of the Knights Templar . There was already a previous building at the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century, which was destroyed by a fire. After the dissolution of the Knights Templar in 1312, the commandery went to the Johanniter .
architecture
The rectangular hall building made of quarry stone is covered by a ribbed vault. The outer facade is structured by buttresses , between which there are ogival windows. The choir , which has just closed , is illuminated by a high central and two other smaller pointed arch windows. Under the roof extends approach, a cornice , the on corbels rests. The chapel is of a gabled roof covered.
Inside there are remains of wall paintings depicting the Annunciation to Mary and St. Depicting George fighting the dragon.
