Chapel of Sainte-Marguerite

The Roman Catholic chapel Ste-Marguerite in Hodent , a French commune in the Val-d'Oise department in the Île-de-France region , was built in the 16th century. The building has been on the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique since 1953 .

history

The St. Margareta consecrated chapel in the 16th century a priory of Benedictine built. Only the west facade with the portal is visible from the street, because the chapel is surrounded by a walled park.

description

Above the simple portal with a round arch made of stone , which is reached via two steps, there is a niche with a small figure of Mary made of terracotta . Above it, there is an ox-eye as the only window on the west facade. A small chapel is attached to the hall church with a polygonal choir on the south side. A slate , wooden roof turret with a bell sits in the middle of the gable roof, which is covered with red tiles. Only the portal, the windows and the buttresses of the chapel made of quarry stone are made of carefully hewn ashlar.

Furnishing

  • The wooden sculpture of an angel making music from the 15th century is dressed in a liturgical robe and holds a no longer recognizable musical instrument in its hand.
  • The polychrome wooden figure of St. Margareta dates from the 16th century. The saint is depicted without her attributes , a dragon and a small cross.
