Stefan Karl Dreher (born August 25, 1960 in the Rhineland ) is a judge and former German politician ( AfD ). From 2014 to 2015 he was a member of the Saxon State Parliament .

Life and work

Dreher attended elementary and high school in Monheim am Rhein and later the Taunus High School in Koenigstein im Taunus . From 1979 to 1981 he completed an apprenticeship as a banker. Dreher studied law at the University of Passau from 1982 to 1988 . From 1988 to 1991 he completed his legal clerkship, which he completed with the 2nd state examination. 1995 doctorate Dreher with a dissertation on the delay of the trial by the absence of the defense lawyer . Dreher has worked in the higher judicial service of the Free State of Saxony since 1993 and from January 1995 - with the exception of the time as a member of parliament - as a judge at the Dresden Regional Court .

Stefan Dreher lives in Pirna . He is married and has one child.

Social and political engagement

Dreher is an honorary board member of the school association of the Christian School Dresden- Zschachwitz , a free school .

From May 2013 Dreher was a member of the AfD. In the local elections in May 2014 , he was elected to the district council of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains. In August 2014, he moved into the Saxon state parliament via the state list , where he was deputy chairman of the AfD parliamentary group. On August 31, 2015, Dreher gave up the state parliament mandate in order to be able to pursue his profession as a judge again. In a letter dated February 16, 2018, Dreher resigned from the party in the face of "unspeakable racist comments" by other party members, in particular Jens Maiers and André Poggenburgs . This is no longer "the AfD that I joined". However, he remained at the local level as a non-party in the AfD district parliamentary group.
