Stefan Gelbhaar (born July 9, 1976 in Berlin-Friedrichshain ) is a lawyer and criminal defense attorney. From April 2008 to March 2011 he was state chairman of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Berlin , then a member of the Berlin House of Representatives . Stefan Gelbhaar has been a member of the German Bundestag since September 2017 .

Life and work

Gelbhaar has lived in the Berlin district of Pankow since 1980 , was a student at the "Neumann School" (30th POS) and the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Gymnasium , then a student at the Humboldt University . After graduating from high school, Gelbhaar did community service from 1996 to 1997 in the day care center in Haus Immanuel. He completed his legal clerkship in the state of Brandenburg. He then worked as a lawyer and criminal defense attorney. Stefan Gelbhaar is the father of two children.

Gelbhaar has been a member of the Bündnisgrünen since 2000, was deputy citizens' deputy in the committee for economy and public order in the Pankow district council assembly (BVV), various delegates at state and federal delegate conferences of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, 2004 to 2005 assessor in the Pankow district board and from the end of 2005 to the beginning of 2008 chairman of the Pankow district association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. From March 2007 to April 2008 he was an assessor in the Berlin regional board of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen.

Yellow hair is considered a pragmatic politician . It is one of his merits to have united the divided Pankow district association and made it more important. The Berlin state delegate conference of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen elected Gelbhaar in the first ballot in 2008 with 87 votes (61 percent) as state chairman. His opponent Pia Paust-Lassen received 50 votes (35 percent), with a total of five abstentions. Gelbhaar thus succeeded Barbara Oesterheld , who resigned for health reasons.

With the 2011 election as a member of the Berlin House of Representatives , Gelbhaar resigned from the party executive. In the parliamentary group, he was elected spokesman for transport policy (public transport, cycling and walking) as well as spokesman for media and network policy. Since November 2011, Gelbhaar was also deputy chairman of the parliamentary group. In the election for the Berlin House of Representatives in 2016 , Gelbhaar ran for the constituency of Pankow 8 and won the direct mandate with a first vote result of 29.8%.

For the federal election on September 24, 2017, Gelbhaar ran as a direct candidate for constituency 76 - Pankow . The Berlin general assembly of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen also voted him number 2 on the state list in March 2017. Since September 2017, Stefan Gelbhaar has been a member of the German Bundestag, chairman in the committee for transport and digital infrastructure and spokesman for urban mobility and cycling. On December 31, 2017, he resigned from the Berlin House of Representatives. Gelbhaar has been a member of the board of the Heinrich Böll Foundation's Bildungswerk Berlin since 2011 .
