Stefan Holenstein (born December 25, 1961 in Zurich ; legal resident in Zurich and Kirchberg SG) is a doctor of law (Dr. iur.), Swiss lawyer and militia officer. He holds an EMBA from the University of Zurich. He has been President of the Swiss Officers' Society (SOG) since March 12, 2016 .

biography

Stefan Holenstein grew up in Zurich and attended the Cantonal School Zurich-Oerlikon, where he graduated with the Matura type A in 1981. From 1982 to 1988 he studied at the University of Zurich Law and then worked until 1992 as a research assistant at the Chair of Civil Law and Roman Law at the University of Zurich. He then moved to the University of St. Gallen , where he again worked as a research assistant at the chair for civil law and general legal history until 1994.

Then Holenstein worked for two years as an auditor and legal secretary at the Zurich District Court . He received his doctorate in 1995 with a thesis on legal history. He then switched to the private sector, where he was Secretary General at the Kuoni travel company from 1997 to 1999 . In 1999 he was admitted to the bar of the Canton of Zurich . From Kuoni he switched to Rentenanstalt / Swiss Life, where he worked as a legal advisor until 2000. He then worked until 2004 as Head of Corporate Services at the Erb Group . After the bankruptcy of the Winterthur family business, he was Head Corporate Center at the Eastern Swiss construction supplier Arbonia until 2008 , then as Deputy Director at the Swiss Health Insurance Association Santésuisse . In 2014 he became General Director of the Swiss Automobile Club (ACS); the employment relationship ended as a result of an association crisis in June 2016. The ACS and Holenstein reached an amicable out-of-court settlement in December 2016. Since May 2017 he has been working as a partner as well as a member of the board of directors and the management of an interim management provider company.

In the Swiss Army , Holenstein is a militia officer with the degree of colonel in the general staff . He was promoted to lieutenant in the artillery in 1983, to captain (unit commander) in 1990, to general staff officer in 1996 (as a major in the general staff) and in 1999 to lieutenant colonel in the general staff (department commander). In 2005 he was promoted to Colonel of the General Staff; since then he has been assigned to the Swiss Army as a staff officer. In the militia office, he has headed the Swiss Officers' Society (SOG) as its president since March 12, 2016.

Holenstein is single and lives in Zurich.
