founding
The Adam-Kraft-Realschule emerged from the Veit-Stoss-Realschule and was initially set up on September 7, 1967 as a branch school in the 1907/08 schoolhouse at Lutherplatz 4 in the Hummelstein district in order to cope with the growing number of pupils. On January 1, 1969, the school became independent and named after the sculptor and builder Adam Kraft after a resolution by the Nuremberg City Council on March 10, 1969.
expansion
Although the primary school, which is also located in the building, moved to the school house on Gabelsberger Straße in 1972, the school continued to struggle with insufficient space, so that a transition pavilion was built in the schoolyard in August 1973 and the old school house was completely renovated by 1974. In addition, a double gym was built in the schoolyard.
New building
From January 2007 to July 2009, a large extension was completed north of the old building with an all-day school and after-school care center and a gross floor area of 9735 square meters, before expansion of the dining room began in the summer of 2014 until spring 2015. By September 2017, the extension, which was completed in 2009, had an additional floor. The costs for the extension of the dining room and the addition of floors to the new building amounted to around 4.75 million euros.
offer
The Adam-Kraft-Realschule, which is strongly musically oriented, is open all-day operation . A double lesson is held weekly in the personal focus . In the 5th and 6th year this focus consists of a musical education in the wind, choir, percussion , dance or theater class, for which a monthly flat fee is charged as a personal contribution. From the 7th year onwards, the personal focus can be selected from other, also non-artistic offers.
The educational concept of the AKR is geared towards learning independence and personal responsibility. Various modules, such as a period of study , TÜV hours (training, practicing, deepening) or free work, were introduced to promote support, each of which is designed independently by the students. There is no school bell to announce the start or end of lessons
At the Adam-Kraft-Realschule the courses of the elective subject groups I, II and III are offered. The school is also part of the School without Racism - School with Courage network .
