The Bertolt-Brecht-Schule Nürnberg (short: BBS ) is a municipal school in Nürnberg - Langwasser . It was named after the German playwright and poet Bertolt Brecht .

The Bertolt-Brecht-Schule is an open all-day school . It has been an elite sports school since 2012 and, as an elite football school , has been associated with 1. FC Nürnberg since 2008 , as well as a UNESCO project school . The foreign athletes are accommodated in the house of the athletes .

history

The plans for the Nürnberg-Langwasser Comprehensive School (GNL) were created in 1970 under the motto “The School of the Future for Langwasser” . Construction began in 1976 on the former March field , and school operations began a year later. The special position of the school was already evident when it was founded in the attempt to make the school system more permeable through the spatial proximity of different types of schools.

The original architectural concepts for the school envisaged a building with classrooms without windows; this should help the students concentrate on the subject matter. In the course of the planning, this idea was abandoned again. The external rooms contain continuous window fronts, the internal rooms on the upper floor contain skylights . According to the original plan, some classrooms in the basement have no windows.

In the early / mid-1980s, the company was renamed to Bertolt Brecht. One year before the integrated comprehensive school trial was ended in 1994 , it was decided to continue the facility as an open all-day school.

The Bertolt-Brecht-Schule has been a UNESCO project school with cultural, social and environmental educational projects since 1997, and has been a partner school for competitive sports since 1998 ; In 2008 this rating was extended to the elite school of football and in 2012 to the elite school of sport . Thanks to the collaboration between its school radio RadioBBS and the Bayerischer Rundfunk , the BBS has been a partner school of the Bayerischer Rundfunk since 2006 .

Profile and offers

As an elite school of sport , it is of supraregional importance; its catchment area already extends over the whole of northern Bavaria and extends to Bayreuth , Bamberg , Neumarkt and Weißenburg in Bavaria . There are currently 19 competitive sports classes in all three types of school with a total of around 350 students.

As an open all-day school with numerous additional offers of support and care, the Bertolt-Brecht-Schule offers offers that can be booked free of charge, but are not mandatory. This area is also offered across all school types.
