Stefan Niemann

Stefan Niemann (* 1966 in Stuttgart ) is a German journalist and head of the ARD television studio in Washington, DC

Life

Born in Stuttgart, Stefan Niemann grew up temporarily in Saudi Arabia and graduated from high school in Buchholz (Nordheide). After a traineeship at the North German Broadcasting Corporation , he studied political science , East Slavic studies and economics at the University of Hamburg with a degree in political science. In addition, he created articles for the NDR for the Hamburg Journal and the Weltspiegel . In 1995 he started as a reporter for Tagesschau and Tagesthemen , and from 1997 to 2004 he was promoted to television correspondent for China and head of the Beijing studio . He has been reporting from the ARD studio in Washington since 2012 and took over the management of the studio in July 2017 as the successor to Ina Ruck .
