Stefan Alexander Bo Olsdal (born March 31, 1974 in Gothenburg ) is bass player in the band Placebo and member of the English-Spanish band Hotel Persona .

Like Brian Molko, Olsdal attended the American International School of Luxembourg, but they had little to do with each other because their groups of friends were different. In 1987 he began his musical career in the school orchestra as a drummer . However, he didn't feel very comfortable in the background and decided to learn bass and piano . In 1994 he met Brian Molko by chance in London, where Olsdal was at a music school and Molko was studying drama. Together with drummer Steve Hewitt, they formed the band Ashtray Heart, which was soon renamed Placebo. Since Hewitt still had contracts with other bands, Robert Schultzberg , a friend of Olsdal's, had to step in for the first placebo album . His role models are bands like Abba , Sonic Youth , Pixies and Depeche Mode . In 1996, Olsdal came out as gay in an interview with Melody Maker magazine .

Hotel Persona consists of Stefan Olsdal, David Amen and Javier Solo. The project started when Olsdal and Amen DJed together and wrote their own tracks. Javier Solo sang the Spanish lyrics and Olsdal the English. Her debut album In the Clouds or En las nubes was released in 2008.
