Loud Like Love is the seventh music album by the British band Placebo . The album was released on September 13, 2013 via Universal .
Recordings and production
During their Battle for the Sun tour, Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal independently announced that the band was working on a new studio album. In November Placebo officially announced on their website that they would be returning to the studio for album recordings.
The sessions took place at RAK Studios in London, where the band had already recorded their fifth studio album, Meds . Adam Noble was responsible for the production and mixing.
subjects
The album is all about love, on the one hand about romance and happiness, and on the other hand also about lovesickness. The first single, Too Many Friends , takes a critical look at the role of the Internet and especially with social networks .

The album was recorded mixed. The Metacritic site calculated a Metascore of 53 points from 13 English reviews. The pre-single Too Many Friends was particularly badly received , while the title track was largely praised.
“ Placebo are among the bands whose repertoire consists of two different songs, a fast and a slow one. Over the years these have been given a new, more modern look, but the musical kit remains the same. […] The pre-release single "Too Many Friends" hinted at the worst for the seventh long player "Loud Like Love". Placebo are devoted to online communication and social networks. The meanwhile 40-year-old Molko sounds like an old man who speaks with stilted words and a high degree of shame about things that he no longer understands. […] Placebo stay placebo stay placebo. The end result is a pop and catchy album, freed from the rough edges of the past. Nothing more, nothing less. "
" Too Many Friends", the billing with social networks like Facebook, reminds of the worst rhymes of the sports fans Stiller [...] and is musically more of a blow. [...] "Loud Like Love" also has its extremely strong moments such as the hypnotically grooving title track, the typical placebo rumors "Scene Of The Crime" and "Purify" and above all the melancholy epics "Begin The End" or "Bosco" in which Molkos matured but still fragile sounding voice is worth the money alone. "
Commercial win
The chart success was a bit more moderate than with their last studio albums. The highest ranking at number 13 in their home country of Great Britain is the lowest of all placebo albums. In Germany, Austria and France, where Battle for the Sun could still achieve the highest ranking, it missed the top of the chart. The album only entered the Swiss charts at number 1. In the USA it was the second of their album after Battle for the Sun to place in the top 100.
