Stephan Seidler

Stephan Seidler also Stefan Seidler (* 1893 in Olmütz ; † 1966 in Linz ) was an Austrian painter , art collector , gallery owner and entrepreneur.

Live and act

Seidler moved to Linz with his mother as a child, studied at the teacher training institute in Linz and was an elementary school teacher in the Mühlviertel communities of Hollerberg and St. Stefan am Walde from 1912 to 1914 . After the First World War , he founded the Dürerhaus art shop in Linz, which was later converted into the Linz breakfast room.

He was friends with Matthias May , Paula May and Klemens Brosch . From 1926 to 1927 he studied at the Munich Art Academy . In 1930 he married Annemarie Galanda. During a stay in Innsbruck he met the Tyrolean artist Artur Nikodem . In 1938/39 he ran a radio and electrical wholesaler with several shops in Linz.

From 1953 he made many painter trips to the Ligurian coast , the Gulf of Salerno and northern France. Seidler was a member of the MAERZ artists ' association from 1952 to 1966 , as well as the Mühlviertel artists' guild .

His descendants have been running the Seidler gallery in Linz since 1979 .

Works

Seidler often painted oil paintings in large formats in bright, strong colors, his pencil drawings show strong contours in architectural motifs and delicate lines in landscape pictures. His work includes natural and urban landscapes, cubic Italian motifs, portraits and figural compositions, for example his peasant war cycle.

Seidler's works were recently shown in a number of group exhibitions in the Landesgalerie at the Upper Austrian State Museum and in Artemons .
