Stefanie Thurmann (born March 25, 1982 in Perleberg , Schwerin district , GDR ) is a German sports shooter .

Life

Stefanie Thurmann started shooting with the Wittenberger Schützengilde 1582 eV at the age of 13. She attended the Marie-Curie-Gymnasium in Wittenberge , where she graduated from high school in 2001. She celebrated her first major international success in 2001 when she was runner -up in both individual and team competitions at the Junior European Championships in Zagreb, Croatia . In 2002 she won the bronze medal with the team at the World Championships in Lahti, Finland, in the junior sport pistol discipline.

In 2003 she started in the women's class for the first time and qualified for the European Championships in Pilsen , Czech Republic , at which she immediately won the European championship in the sport pistol team, together with her teammates Munkhbayar Dorjsuren and Claudia Verdicchio . In 2004 she was the only female participant in the German Armed Forces pistol team at the CISM military world championships in Ankara, Turkey, where she took 4th place in the sport pistol discipline and 4th place in the military rapid fire pistol discipline.

In 2005 she won the European title in Belgrade, Serbia, in the sport pistol team discipline together with her teammates Munkhbayar Dorjsuren and Claudia Verdicchio.

In 2006 she won the bronze medal together with Munkhbayar Dorjsuren and Claudia Verdicchio at the World Championships in the Croatian capital Zagreb in the discipline sport pistol team , and by taking 12th place in individual she was able to achieve a quota place for the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 for Germany.

She is currently a sports soldier in the Bundeswehr (with the rank of sergeant major ) and lives in Frankfurt (Oder) .
