Stephanie Vogelsang (2010)

Stefanie Vogelsang (born April 25, 1966 in Bielefeld ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and former member of the Bundestag (until 2013). She was deputy mayor of Berlin - Neukölln , city councilor, deputy chairwoman of the regional association of the CDU Berlin and district chairwoman of the CDU Neukölln. She is married, has two children and lives in Neukölln.

Life and study

Vogelsang grew up in Bielefeld and began studying political science and economics in Münster and Bonn , but did not graduate.

Political party

In 1989 she joined the CDU. She worked for several members of the German Bundestag in Bonn and became a speaker at the German Bundestag in 1990. She was local chairwoman of the CDU Gropiusstadt and from 2005 to 2009 district chairwoman of the CDU Neukölln. Vogelsang lost the district chairmanship when, surprisingly, she was no longer re-elected by the district party conference. She was succeeded by her district colleague Michael Büge .

District Office Berlin-Neukölln

From 1995 to 1999 Stefanie Vogelsang was District Councilor for Health and Social Affairs in the Neukölln District Office. In 1999 it was not erected again. From December 1, 2001 to June 9, 2009 she was Deputy District Mayor of Neukölln. From December 1, 2001 to October 26, 2006 she was District Councilor for the Construction Department, and from October 27, 2006 to June 9, 2009 she was District Councilor for the Citizen Services and Health Department of Neukölln. A request for voting out of the SPD, Greens, PDS, FDP and Grauen in 2008 only narrowly failed. Their term of office ended when they were voted out of office on June 9, 2009. The previous CDU parliamentary group chairman, Falko Liecke , then took over as city councilor.

Bundestag

In the run-up to the federal election campaign, there was violent internal party turmoil over Vogelsang's candidacy. After she had been replaced at the head of the district party, she was accused of mistakes with party finances, which culminated in a new party congress, which asked her to renounce her candidacy.

After Vogelsang had held on to her candidacy, she was elected to the Bundestag as a direct candidate in the Neukölln constituency in the 2009 Bundestag election with 30% of the votes. In the Bundestag she is a full member of the subcommittee on issues relating to the European Union, the Petitions Committee and the Health Committee, and a deputy member of the Main Committee. Vogelsang gave his first speech in the German Bundestag on December 17, 2009.

She is a member of the Europa-Union parliamentary group of the German Bundestag .

For the 2013 federal election it was not re-established in the Neukölln constituency. The attempt to secure direct candidacy in the constituency of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg-Prenzlauer Berg-Ost (constituency 83) failed: At the decisive meeting, she received only 3 of 23 votes cast.

Positions

Vogelsang repeatedly called for social benefits to be cut for parents whose children often skipped school. Vogelsang called for cuts of up to 30% in a letter to Labor Minister von der Leyen (CDU). Previously, she had already advertised in the federal election campaign by reducing or canceling child benefit for the parents of truants.

During her tenure as town councilor she prevented the construction of a mosque in Neukölln with the building permit. She feared dubious people behind the project.

In the BZ , Vogelsang denounced during her time as city councilor that there were no-go areas in Neukölln . Here she got into a dispute with District Mayor Heinz Buschkowsky (SPD).
