Stefano Comini (born February 3, 1990 in Lugano ) is a Swiss automobile racing driver . He won the TCR International Series in 2015 .

Career

Comini began his motorsport career in karting in 2002 , in which he remained active until 2006. Among other things, he was Swiss Junior Champion in 2004 and won the Swiss Bridgestone Cup in 2005. In 2006 Comini also got into formula racing . He was tenth in Formula Monza 1.2 . In 2007 he reached third place in the Formula Monza 1.6. He also took part in individual races of the Swiss Formula Renault 2.0 and the winter championship of the Italian series. In 2008 Comini drove for various teams in the Italian Formula Renault. He also took part in individual races of the Swiss Formula Renault and the Italian Formula 2000 Light. He achieved a victory in the Swiss Formula Renault. In 2009 Comini competed for CO2 Motorsport in the Swiss and Italian Formula Renault. He remained without a win in both series and was sixth in the Italian and seventh in the Swiss Formula Renault.

In 2010 Comini switched to touring car racing for the Oregon team in the Eurocup Mégane Trophy . He won three races and achieved eight podium finishes. He finished the season in third place in the drivers' championship. He also took part in two Formula Abarth races. In 2011 Comini stayed with the Oregon team in the Eurocup Mégane Trophy. He won eleven of 14 races and was only off the podium once. He won the championship with 305 to 188 points ahead of his teammate Niccolò Nalio .

In 2012 Comini competed for Composit Motorsport in the Italian Renault Clio Cup . He won half of all races and was the overall winner. In addition, he started for various teams in individual races in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo , the Eurocup Mégane Trophy, in the Italian Porsche Carrera Cup and he made a guest start in the Porsche Supercup . In 2013 Comini drove for Target Competition in the Bohemian Renault Clio Cup. With four wins, he reached fifth place overall. He also made two guest starts each in the Italian Renault Clio Cup and the Eurocup Mégane Trophy. He finished first in both of them. In 2014 Comini competed in the SEAT León Eurocup for Target Competition . He won three races and was fourth in the drivers' championship. He also took part in two races in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

In 2015 Comini received a cockpit at Target Competition in the newly founded TCR International Series . At the season opener in Sepang , he won the first race and thus became the first winner of a TCR race. With six wins, Comini was the driver with the most wins at the end of the season. He decided the championship with 342 to 312 points ahead of Pepe Oriola for himself.
