Steffen Driesen (born November 30, 1981 in Meerbusch ) is a former German swimmer .

Career

Its main position is the backstroke . Driesen trained with Henning Lambertz at SG Bayer Wuppertal / Uerdingen / Dormagen together with Sarah Poewe and Daniela Samulski . In 2009 he finished his studies at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences with a degree in industrial engineering and has been working in the energy industry ever since.

• Nine titles at German swimming championships since 1999 (50, 100, 200 meters back)
• Finalist over 100 meters back at the Olympic Games 2000 in Sydney (7th place)
• Silver medal at the 2001 World Championships in Fukuoka with the 4 × 100 meter individual relay, bronze medal over 100 meters back
• Silver medal at the 2003 European Short Course Championships over 200 meters back, bronze medal over 100 meters back
• Silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens with the 4 × 100 meter relay in record time in Europe, seventh over 100 meters back

For winning the silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he received the silver laurel leaf on March 16, 2005 .
