Architecture and history

The massive building was built in 1903 by the architect Max Schneck on the site of the former Heiliggeist Hospital . The builder of the Art Nouveau building was the businessman Ernst Körtge. The building's oriel facing the street corner to the southeast is striking . At the northeast corner there is a half-timbered bay window. The use of half-timbered elements took place at the urging of the city building authority. Both the facade facing the stone bridge and the street “Am Hospital” have rich plaster decorations. On the facade there is a larger than life plaster relief depicting flora . Another relief is on the east side and shows a seed breeder. The house is considered one of the most sophisticated Art Nouveau buildings in Quedlinburg.
