Steinhardt is a district of Bad Sobernheim in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate .
location
The place is about four kilometers northeast of Bad Sobernheim. Neighboring towns are Bockenau , Oberstreit and Waldböckelheim .
history
The oldest mention of the place name can be found in a document from Pope Eugene III. of February 18, 1148, in which the possessions and privileges of the Disibodenberg monastery are listed in "Steinhart". In 1316 a Disibodenberger Hof is mentioned, another belonged to the Marienpfort monastery (Waldböckelheim). They lay on the border between Waldböckelheim and Sobernheim, which was formed by the road leading from south to north (today Kreisstraße 21). According to a wisdom from Waldböckelheim, they had a share in the rights and duties of the community.
At the end of the 18th century Steinhardt served the robbers Peter Petri ( Black Peter ) and Johannes Bückler ( Schinderhannes ) as a shelter for a time. On March 27, 1800, Schinderhannes committed an armed robbery here on the Jewish merchant Samuel Elly, resulting in death.
On January 1, 1969, Steinhardt with 121 inhabitants was umgemeindet from the community Waldböckelheim to Sobernheim.
