Steinheim , also Stainheim or Stainhaim , is the name of a Swabian noble family .

The head office that gave it its name was Steinheim , which is now part of the central Swabian town of Neu-Ulm . In the 15th century, Waldkirch , Haldenwang , Rettenbach and Hafenhofen were among their possessions. They owned the Baumgarten rule and other property within the Burgau margraviate . They were organized in the Leitbracken Society .

Heraldic representations can be found in the Ingeram Codex , in Scheibler's book of arms and in Siebmacher's book of arms : the silver shield is horizontally divided by a red bar, four above and three blue diamonds below . The helmet covers are silver and blue or red. The helmet ornament is a closed flight , which is shown partly in silver, partly in silver and black.

Veit Dietrich von Steinheim was lieutenant colonel in the Hatzfeld regiment in the Upper Palatinate and in 1635 commander of the Eger district. He carried an increased baronial coat of arms. While the original coat of arms is repeated in fields one and four, there is a red rooster on a green three-hill in the other two golden fields, also as a motif of the extended crest. The crest of the original family coat of arms is also crowned. Veit Dietrich von Steinheim is buried with his wife and son in the grave of Seeberg Castle in the church of St. Wolfgang , the epitaphs have been preserved. His possessions in the Eger area included Rinmbach and Haslau . In Haslau he succeeded the von Kotzau family .
