history

Reception building of the former Bergen (Vogtl) train station east of Steinigt

The Steinigt group of houses in the south-eastern corridor of Bergen was mentioned under this name as early as 1825. As part of Bergen, Steinigt originally belonged to the Electoral Saxon or later Royal Saxon Office of Plauen , to which the place was subject until 1856. In 1856 Steinigt in the corridor of Bergen was affiliated to the Falkenstein court office and in 1875 to the Auerbach administration . In 1875 the place had 62 inhabitants. Between 1865 and 1972, the Bergen (Vogtl) station on the Herlasgrün – Oelsnitz railway line was east of Steinigt . Since the station was about two kilometers from the eponymous town of Bergen, the station was always quite meaningless. Only when the Wismut was loading ore here in the 1950s did the station experience a major increase in traffic.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the Steinigt settlement became part of Bergen's municipality in 1952 and became part of the Auerbach district in the Chemnitz district (renamed Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Auerbach in 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996. Since October 1, 2010, Steinigt is no longer explicitly shown as part of the municipality, but is now subordinate to the town of Bergen.
