The Steinspornbrücke is a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists in the 22nd district of Vienna, Donaustadt . It leads from the upper Lobau over the New Danube to the Danube Island .
It was built in the course of the Viennese Danube regulation together with the New Danube and the Danube Island, opened in 1974 and is now mainly frequented by Viennese looking for relaxation. The New Danube rowing center , the LDS pumping station and a wind turbine operated by Wien Energie , which is connected to the power grid via the nearby Donaustadt steam power station, are located at the Steinspornbrücke . The plant was built in 1997 and was one of the first wind turbines in Austria. The 65 meter high wind turbine supplies 100 households with environmentally friendly electricity.
