Stephan Grüninger

Stephan Grüninger (* 1969 in Sindelfingen ) is a German economist .

Life

Stephan Grüninger first completed an apprenticeship as a banker . After completing his military service in the Franco-German Brigade in Böblingen and graduating from high school, he studied business administration at the University of Konstanz with a focus on international management , controlling and foreign trade . He completed internships at Hewlett-Packard in Böblingen and at Stoll Knitting Machinery Inc. in New York; on his diploma thesis he worked with Aesculap AGtogether in Tuttlingen. From 1996 to 1999 he was a research assistant at the Konstanz Institute for Value Management at the University of Konstanz and assistant to the management of the German Network for Business Ethics (DNWE) . At the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg he received his doctorate in economics (Dr. rer. Pol.) In 2001 under Reinhard Pfriem with the thesis "Trust management - cooperation, morality and governance". From 2000 to 2003 he worked as a consultant at the Zentrum für Wirtschaftsethik gGmbH in Konstanz and for the Management Zentrum St Gallen AG. He then worked for management consultancy and auditing at KPMG and from 2007 to 2009 for compliance and anti fraud services at Ernst & Young , whose partner for Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services (FIDS) and head of compliance services since 2008.

In 2009 he was appointed professor for general business administration with a focus on managerial economics at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences at the University of Konstanz for Technology, Business and Design and was also appointed Scientific Director of the Konstanz Institute for Corporate Governance (KICG) . He is a reviewer for the Science Council (WR) .

Grüninger was a member of the board of the German Network for Business Ethics (DGNE) from 2005 to 2010 . He is head of the Compliance & Integrity Forum at the Center for Business Ethics (ZfW) of the German Business Ethics Network and is also the Compliance & Integrity Program Director there . He is a member of the working group for sustainable corporate management in the Schmalenbach Society for Business Administration .

Since 2012 he has co-chaired an expert group for a new corporate culture at Deutsche Telekom .

Act

Grüninger's work and research focuses on corporate compliance , integrity management , anti-fraud management , corporate governance , business ethics and corporate social responsibility (CSR) as well as trust and risk management.

In 2009 he published the ComplianceProgramMonitorZfW together with Josef Wieland .

Grüninger has initiated the so far unique Certified Ethics & Compliance Officer (CECO) certificate course , which focuses on the new profession of compliance officer .
