Stephan Kulle (born October 4, 1967 in Leinefelde ) is a German theologian , journalist , television presenter and book author .

Life

Stephan Kulle studied Catholic theology in Berlin, Erfurt , Münster and Frankfurt am Main with the aim of becoming a priest . In a traffic accident caused by a friend on July 10, 1991, he suffered paraplegia that made him a quadriplegic . Thanks to intensive therapeutic efforts, which he reports on in his book Riss im Glück , the consequences of the accident could be reduced. Today Stephan Kulle can walk without a walking aid.

Stephan Kulle currently lives in Frankfurt am Main and Rome . He is a news editor and reports for the Second German Television (ZDF) and the event and documentation channel Phoenix on religious and ecclesiastical topics, in particular from the Vatican and the Pope's environment, as well as important religious events in Germany and the world, such as the World Youth Day or the Pope's visit to Bavaria and Turkey. From 2000 to 2003 he moderated the ZDF program “heute-Nachrichten”, especially in the ARD and ZDF morning magazine. In 2004 he was the presenter of the WDR show “at home & on the go”. Stephan Kulle is currently moderating the program “ Vor Ort ” at Phoenix.

In the 2006/2007 winter semester, Stephan Kulle taught theology at the University of Koblenz-Landau on the subject of "Media and Religion".

Kulle wrote a little piece of television history on April 19, 2005 at 6:39 p.m. when he was four minutes before the official announcement of the election of Joseph Ratzinger as the new Pope Benedict XVI. found out about the election result from a reliable source and announced this news to Phoenix ahead of time. In his book Habemus Papam he reports in the form of a diary about the vacancy after the death of John Paul II and the election of Joseph Ratzinger as the new Pope Benedict XVI.
