Stephen L. Johnson (born March 21, 1951 in Washington, DC ) is an American scientist and former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Life

After attending school, he first studied biology at Taylor University in Upland , where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA in Biology) in 1973 . He completed a subsequent postgraduate course in pathology at George Washington University with a Master of Science (MS Pathology).

He then worked in the private sector and held several roles at Litton Bionetics, Inc. and Hazelton Laboratories Corporation .

In 2005, Johnson was appointed Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by US President George W. Bush . He held this office until the end of Bush's tenure in January 2009.
