Stephen M. Katz

Stephen Marshall Katz , also Stephen Katz (born August 10, 1946 in Los Angeles ) is an American cameraman .

Live and act

The younger brother of screenwriter Gloria Katz learned his trade in the second half of the 1960s at the California Institute of the Arts and the Art Center College of Design, where he studied design and photography. In 1970 Katz was about to open a photo studio in New York when he was asked if he would like to photograph a Jonathan Demme production .

Since then, Katz has been a sought-after cameraman for numerous mostly unspectacular films, mostly inexpensive B-productions , which he initially photographed primarily for the production company Roger Corman . His work primarily includes comedies such as the cult films Kentucky Fried Movie and Blues Brothers, but also some thrillers , (melo-) dramas, horror and exploitation films .
