The ship was built with hull number 130 in 1993 at the Lux shipyard in Mondorf for the Edersee passenger shipping company. The delivery took place in July 1993 by land. For this purpose, the ship was brought from the shipyard in Mondorf on the Rhine to Emmerich and from there in the port, individual parts were driven on heavy trucks to the Edersee. At the lake the ship was reassembled and lowered into the water. The name Stern von Waldeck refers to the star from the Waldeck coat of arms , which comes from the aristocratic dynasty of the County of Schwalenberg or a line of the count family, the House of Waldeck .
The ship operates on the Edersee from the beginning of April to the end of October. In the pre-season and post-season (April and October), tours take place regularly on the weekend and on weekdays as required. In the high and low season (May to September) the ship is out daily. In the event of full damming, the entire lake between the dam in the east and the Eder tributary in the west can be navigated. The Stern von Waldeck stops at a maximum of eight berths. In addition to the tours, the ship can also be rented for weddings and special trips.
