Sterzinger Miszellaneen manuscript

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sterzinger Miszellaneen manuscript is a German-Latin literary composite manuscript probably compiled in the first decade of the 15th century, possibly in Brixen in South Tyrol . The manuscript, written in South Bavarian Middle High German , comprises 61 unadorned leaves without illumination. The texts, however, have a very colorful content by different authors, including numerous songs (see song manuscript ). The use of tones of the German masterly song tradition in a learned Latin context makes it a particularly important testimony.

In detail, the Miszellaneen manuscript contains the following texts:

  • some songs by the monk of Salzburg on sheets 7v, 8v, 33v-34v, 41v, 42v-44r, 46r
  • two sheets with texts by the cleric Freidank , sheet 9v and 12v
  • Songs of Neidhart von Reuental on sheets 35r, 36v-39r
  • the text 'stepmother and daughter' on 39v-41v
  • the text 'Von alten Weibern' by Stefan Veltsperger, 44v-45v
  • as well as further Neidhart songs on sheets 47r-61v

After it was officially lost after 1944, the manuscript collection is now in the Sterzing City Archives in South Tyrol, where it was transferred to with the collection of the game organizer Vigil Raber .

The manuscript and research literature on her were digitized in 2005 as part of the Innsbruck project Austrian Literature Online .
