Steve Ash

Steve Ash (born March 1, 1957 in Pittsburgh ) is an American musician ( piano , composition ) of modern jazz .

Steve Ash studied music at Indiana University , where he earned a bachelor's degree in jazz piano . He has been in New York City since the 1980s, where he had engagements in jazz clubs such as the Rainbow Room, Windows on the World and the Smoke . In 1982 the first recordings were made with Stan Rubin ( Back on Campus, Vol. 1 ); He also played with Frank Wess , Jon Hendricks , Jimmy Cobb , Louis Hayes , Eddie Harris , Warren Vaché ( Jazzfestival Bern 2001), Harry Allen , Chris Connor , Annie Ross , Mel Lewis , Vernell Fournier and Doc Cheatham . With the support of the Kennedy Center and the State Department, he toured West Africa and France as part of the Jazz Ambassadors in 2004. Under his own name he released the albums Once I Loved and Everything I Love . He also worked as a musician in the feature film Traces of a Life (2007), in which he accompanied Claire Danes in the song "Time After Time"; He could also be heard in the film soundtrack with the piano solo "Pretend". In the field of jazz he was involved in 14 recording sessions between 1982 and 2017, including a. also with Neal Miner , Danny D'Imperio , Barbara Lea & Loren Schoenberg , Danny Barrett and Marty Elkins .
