Steve Gawley

Steve Gawley (* around 1952) is an American special effects artist .

Life

Gawley studied product design at California State University . In the mid-1970s, he was one of the first employees of George Lucas ' special effects company Industrial Light & Magic , which he was a member of until 2006. Gawley's early work included modeling the special effects for Star Wars , and in the film he also had an extra role as a stormtrooper. In the sequel The Empire Strikes Back , he worked as a foreman in the model building department, and in The Return of the Jedi , he headed the department. He also oversaw the model work for the later prequels Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clone Warriors . In addition to the Star Wars films, he also worked as a lead model maker on three Star Trek films and the pilot of the television series Spaceship Enterprise: The Next Century . Gawley was also involved in all of the Back to the Future films.

Gawley was 1990 Back to the Future Part II for the Oscar nominated.
