Steven Bryant

Steven Bryant (born May 28, 1972 in Little Rock , Arkansas ) is an American conductor and composer . His work mainly includes works from the fields of symphonic music , chamber music and symphonic brass music , taking up influences from electronic music .

Life

Steven Bryant studied composition with John Corigliano at the Juilliard School , with Cindy McTee at the University of North Texas and with W. Francis McBeth at Ouachita Baptist University . He was a founding member of the BCM International Composers' Association (with Eric Whitacre , Jonathan Newman and Jim Bonney). The records "BCM Saves the World" and "BCM Men of Industry" were released together. In the fall semester 2011, Bryant was Composer in Residence at Gettysburg College .

Bryant lives in Durham , North Carolina with his wife, conductor Verena Mösenbichler-Bryant . His father-in-law is the Austrian conductor Johann Mösenbichler .

Bryant has composed major commissioned works for the Amherst Saxophone Quartet (funded by the American Composers Jerome Composers Commissioning Program ), the Indiana University Wind Ensemble , the US Air Force Band of Mid-America and the University of Nevada Wind Orchestra , Las Vegas . Recordings were made with the University of North Texas Wind Symphony , the wind ensemble of Rutgers University and the Michigan State University Wind Symphony. Bryant also created a new version of the song "Real Cool Time" by Iggy Pop and the Stooges for the Italian independent label Snowdonia .
