Steven Monse (born January 26, 1990 in Wolmirstedt , Magdeburg district , GDR ) is a former German basketball player . He is the son of boxing fighter René Monse, who died in 2017 .

career

After his parents separated, Steven Monse moved with his mother and sister to Berlin, where he grew up, graduated from high school and started his basketball career. Through the TuS Lichterfelde Berlin club , he was able to gain his first Bundesliga experience as early as 2007, at the beginning of his training, but from 2008 he deepened his training with the NBBL team of the ALBA Berlin . From 2010 he started his career in the Bayer Giants Leverkusen squad in the 2nd BBL Süd and between 2011 and 2013 he was promoted to the basketball Bundesliga (BBL) at Brose Baskets and ALBA Berlin . Due to the short periods of time in these squads, he decided to join the ProA -Ligisten BV Chemnitz 99 in the 2013/14 season, with which he was able to achieve a solid seasonal performance.

With the 2014/15 season he returned to his old roots and joined the BBC Magdeburg in the ProB . For the 2015/16 season he finally moved to the Crailsheim Merlins in the BBL. After taking a break from basketball in the 2016/17 game year and concentrating on professional matters, Monse returned to his hometown for the 2017/18 season and joined the Wolmirstedt Baskets in the 2nd regional league. In spring 2018 he celebrated the unbeaten championship title with the team and thus promotion to the 1st regional league.

In mid-May 2018, he took up the post of sports director in Wolmirstedt.
