Steven Seigo (born August 1, 1990 in Edenwold , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been playing for Vaasan Sport in the Finnish Liiga since the 2019/20 season .

Career

Seigo began his career in 2006 with the Bonnyville Pontiacs from the Canadian Junior League Alberta Junior Hockey League , where he played for a total of three seasons. Between 2009 and 2013 he was on the ice for the Michigan Technological University team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , which is part of the NCAA's gaming operations . There he acted as the team's assistant captain in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons . In March 2013, the defensive player signed a trial contract ( try-out ) with the Abbotsford Heat , for which he played nine games in the American Hockey League .

In the summer of 2013, Seigo decided to move to Europe and joined the Finnish club TPS Turku from the Liiga , where he was used in 113 games over the next two years. For the 2015/16 season , the Canadian moved to the Continental Hockey League at Dinamo Riga and played there with jersey number 16. After the season he left Riga and decided to take up another offer from Finland: In May 2016 he signed with Rauman Lukko .

For the 2018/19 season, the right-handed player moved to the Straubing Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League . The defender signed a one-year contract with Vaasan Sport for the 2019/20 season .
