biography

Steven Théolier is the son of coach Jacques Théolier, who worked for the French Ski Association from 1994 and became head coach of the Italian men's slalom team in 2009. He comes from Valfréjus and, after reaching the age limit, competed in his first FIS races in the 2005/2006 season . In 2007 he got the opportunity to take part in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Jaca , where he was fifth in both slalom and giant slalom. After further starts in FIS races, in which he initially hardly achieved any leading positions, Théolier was first used in the European Cup on January 21, 2009 in the Courchevel slalom . As a 28th, he went straight to the points. Then he started in his special discipline slalom at the Junior World Championships 2009 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where he was disqualified in the second round.

During the next two years Théolier achieved victories and podiums in FIS races for the first time. But he did not win any more European Cup points until he finished ninth in the top ten for the first time on December 21, 2011 in the parallel race ( City Event ) in St. Vigil . On December 8, 2012, Théolier, who has not previously been a member of any French Ski Association squad, started the World Cup for the first time at the slalom in Val-d'Isère . In his second World Cup race, the night slalom of the 3-Tre race in Madonna di Campiglio on December 18, 2012, he reached 15th place and thus won his first World Cup points. A month later, he achieved his first victory in a European Cup race in the Kirchberg in Tirol slalom . In September 2013, he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture during summer training in Ushuaia , which meant that he missed the entire 2013/14 season. After that he could not win any more World Cup points.
