Location and surroundings
The fork in the path between Obernaundorf and Niederhäslich and the field path that runs parallel to the village of Obernaundorf is seen as the highest point of the Stieglitzberg . To the west the area goes into the foothills of the Wachtelberg and borders the pits on the brook , to the east it merges into the Poisenwald . To the south the site borders the village of Obernaundorf, to the north it borders the Heulborngraben creek .
history
The name of the mountain goes back to the operation of bird trappers who set up their nets in the vicinity of the mountain to catch goldfinches . The old connecting path between the villages of Niederhäslich and Obernaundorf goes over the mountain, where at the fork in the path to the Poisenwald there is a sandstone path pillar from the end of the 19th century at 240.9 m above sea level. NHN stands, on the same path at the upper exit of the forest there is a community boundary stone from 1886. In 1877 there was still a dense forest on the mountain. In the 20th century, the forest was cleared and fields created, the former Niederhäslicher fields on the mountain were converted into pastures after 1960 and were later partly planted as a mixed forest.
