Stillwater is a small community in Columbia County in the US state of Pennsylvania . The first settlement was established in 1832, in 1899 Stillwater became a self-governing parish ( borough ).

The municipal area is 8.0 km² and, despite the name, does not contain any water areas worth mentioning; the place is on the western edge of the valley of the Fishing Creek , on its southern bank at this point.
The Pennsylvania State Route 487 leads in a north-south direction by Stillwater.

Like many other covered wooden bridges in Pennsylvania, the Stillwater Covered Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places .
