history

Stockach is probably a high medieval settlement. In 1229 the field name "Stokka" was mentioned. Perhaps the place originally belonged to the Counts of Hohenberg . The small village was then the property of the Bebenhausen monastery and was sold in 1323 with all rights to the Lords of Gomaringen. In 1445 they sold it to the Remp von Pfullingen. Kaspar Remp von Pfullingen sold the place to the Reutlingen hospital in 1491. Since then the rulership and jurisdiction of the lower courts have been with the hospital, the sovereignty and blood jurisdiction with the imperial city of Reutlingen . When the imperial city fell to the Electorate of Württemberg in the course of mediatization in 1802/03, which was elevated to a kingdom in 1806 , Stockach also came to Württemberg. It was assigned to the Oberamt Reutlingen . In 1938, Stockach came to the Tübingen district as part of the district reform during the Nazi era in Württemberg . After the Second World War, Stockach fell into the French occupation zone in 1945 and thus came to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Hohenzollern , which was incorporated into the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952. On December 1, 1973 Stockach was incorporated into Gomaringen.
