The type 8234 (also known as type Gdynia 4400 ) is a type of container ship from the shipyard Stocznia Gdynia. Three units of the type were built.
history
The ships were delivered between 2002 and 2005. The clients were Rickmers Reederei in Hamburg , which had two ships built, and Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG , which received one of the ships.
Technical data and equipment
The vessels are of a Wartsila - Sulzer - diesel engine of the type RTA 8 96 43,920 kW power driven.
The deckhouse is located above the engine room in the aft part of the ships. It has six decks with facilities for the ship's crew as well as the bridge deck . The ships are equipped with 24 cabins, including an owner's cabin for two people, two passenger cabins for two people each and a pilot's cabin, so that a total of 27 people can be accommodated. The 20 cabins for the crew members are single cabins.
There are seven holds in front of the deckhouse, each with two 40-foot bays. Behind the deckhouse is a 40-foot hold and space in two 40-foot bays on deck. There is space for up to 11 containers next to each other in the rooms ; on deck, apart from the foremost hatch, which has space for 11 containers side by side, 13 containers can be loaded side by side.
The container capacity of the ships is 4,444 TEU . 2,051 TEU can be loaded below deck, 2,393 TEU on deck. With homogeneous loading with 14 t heavy containers, 3,155 TEU can be loaded. If 40-foot containers are loaded, there is space for 1,010 FEU (plus 31 TEU) below deck and 1,194 TEU (plus 5 TEU) on deck. There are 450 connections for refrigerated containers.
