The Friedenskircherl

The Stoderzinken is a 2048  m above sea level. A. high mountain near Gröbming in the Kemet mountains , north of the Ennstal. It is accessible via the 12 km long Stoderzinken Alpine Road from Gröbming. The Friedenskircherl is located on its steep southern flank .

The mountain lies in the course of a ridge that stretches from the Dachstein (2997 m) to the east to the Kammspitz (2,139 m) and the Grimming massif (2351 m).

history

  • In 1846 a coal deposit was discovered on the mountain.
  • In 1892, at the instigation of Emil Ritter von Horstig d'Aubigny, the first cart path for convicts was built and after completion the coal mining was opened.
  • In 1902 Horstig had the Friedenskircherl built. In the same year Peter Rosegger also visited the Stoderzinken.
  • In 1906 mining was stopped.
  • From 1959 to 1962, on the initiative of Franz Seebacher and Julius Steiner, the Alpine Road was built.
  • In 1963 the first ski lift was opened.
  • In 1982 the Austrian Post issued a definitive stamp with the Friedenskircherl as part of the series Landscapes from Austria .
  • In 2005, the Gröbming Adventure Park at the foot of the Stoderzinkens went into operation.
  • In 2013, Europe's largest zipline facility was opened at Stoderzinken.

The forest climbing park for the whole family is located directly on Stoderzinkenstraße and has 18 different courses with a climbing length of 2000 m.

Zipline Stoderzinken

The length of the 4 parallel wire ropes over two sections is 2500 m and a height difference of 600 m is overcome. The greatest distance to the ground in the 1st section is 161 m. Flight speeds of up to 115 km / h are reached in the 2nd section.

Stoderzinken ski area

The Stoderzinken has 4 lifts with 6 slopes that are 8 km long. Furthermore, there is a children's snow country and a permanent race track and a snowtubing -distance. The lifts are part of the Ski amadé network . After the 2017/18 season, skiing had to be stopped for economic reasons.

hike

A 19.5 km long circular hiking trail leads from the Stoder car park ( 1829  m ) over the summit and the Grafenbergalm.
