Stoof (unit)

Stoof , also Stof or Stoop , was a measure of volume in Liefland and Prussia .

The measure varied from region to region and has been used primarily for liquids ( wine ) since 1745 . In the Baltic regions the measure was renewed and introduced as a new fabric in 1833.

The ratio of old and new fabric was 1.3053 liters to 1.2752 liters. The measure was valid until 1845, when it was replaced by Russian measures and weights in the Baltic provinces.

The fabric was the basis for the level or visor fabric . A similar measure in the Netherlands and Sweden was the Stoop , Stoov or Stübchen . Its volume size ranged from more than 1 liter to a little over 3 liters.

  • 6 fabric = 1 quarter
  • 12 Stoof = 1 Kulmet / Küllmet (Reval) = 662 2/3 Parisian cubic inches = 13 1/8 liters
  • 2 ½ stoof (heaped) or 3 1/3 stoof (deleted) = 547 ½ Parisian cubic inches = 10 17/20 liters = 10.85 liters (values as grain size in Riga )
  • 10 fabrics = 1 wedge
  • 30 fabric = 1 anchor
  • 120 Stoof = 1 ohm; with beer and brandy , 130 substances = 1 ohm
  • 180 Stoof = 1 Oxhoft = 1 ½ Ohm = 6 anchors = 720 Quartier = 256 2/3 liters ( Narva )
  • 720 fabric = 1 load
  • Culm ( West Prussia )
    • 1 fabric = 70 Parisian cubic inches = 1 2/5 liters = 1.40 liters
  • Danzig
    • 1 fabric = 86 Parisian cubic inches = 1 7/10 liters = 1.70 liters
  • Koenigsberg
    • 1 fabric = 72 Paris cubic inches = 1 17/40 liters = 1.425 liters
  • Narva (Russian; to St. Petersburg )
    • 1 fabric = 65 Parisian cubic inches = 1 7/25 liters = 1.28 liters
  • Reval
    • 1 fabric = 60 Parisian cubic inches = 1 1/5 liters = 1.20 liters

The oil trade was based on weight.

    • 1 (oil) substance = 596 grams is equivalent to 2.5 Estonian pounds
  • Riga
    • 1 fabric = 61 Paris cubic inches = 1 1/5 liters = 1.20 liters
