Storås is a village in the Norwegian municipality of Orkland , in the province ( Fylke ) Trøndelag . The place has 302 inhabitants (as of 2019).

geography

Storås is a so-called Tettsted , i.e. a settlement that is counted as one area for statistical purposes. The place is in the former municipality of Meldal , which was transferred to the newly created municipality of Orkland on January 1, 2020 as part of the state- wide municipal reform . Already on January 1, 2018 the affiliation of the place changed from the then province Sør-Trøndelag to the newly created Fylke Trøndelag.

Riksvei 65 and 701 run through Storås. The Orkla flows past the village .

Culture

The Storåsfestivalen music festival took place in Storås for several summers until 2012 . The local kindergarten is housed in the old school.
