Translohr Venice

Venice tram, in Mestre

The Venice Translohr , also known as Venice tram, has been a public transport system in Venice that has been running since 2010 . Before that, tram networks existed both in Mestre (until 1941) and on Lido Island (until 1940). The two lines T1 and T2 are currently operating. Both the Venice Mestre train station on the mainland and the Piazzale Roma bus station near the Venezia Santa Lucia train station in the old town are served.

The new “tram” Venice is based on the Translohr system. A guide rail embedded in the center of the route is used for track guidance. The same system exists in nearby Padua , among others .

The tram is operated by ACTV (Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano) .
