Strobel (noble family)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Strobel (also Ritter von Strobel ) were a lower nobility family in the Erlangen area, some of whom carried the personal title of knight . They can be proven as servants of the Reichsministeriale von Gründlach since 1279 and from 1321 also with their heirs of Hohenlohe-Brauneck . They were employed by them as bailiffs at Marloffstein Castle from 1327 . They had residences in the neighboring towns of Spardorf and Uttenreuth (until around 1420) and were enfeoffed with the Adlitz and Atzelsberg estates .

In addition to being named bailiff, members of the family could also be found in church positions. In 1358 a Hermann Strobel officiated as pastor in Bruck . Another Hermann I. Strobel from Uttenreuth was provost in Neunkirchen am Brand monastery from 1334 to 1360 (his gravestone is still preserved). Two other strobes, Konrad II and Konrad III, were promoted to abbots at the Weißenohe monastery at the end of the 14th century .

The last documentary mention was made of a knight Siegmund Strobel, who moved out of the country in 1470 and previously handed over his goods to his sister Katharina Strobelin, nun of Frauenaurach .

The Strobels were related to the Lords of Erlangen .
